Academic Symposium on the Construction of New Liberal Arts and Art Hermeneutics Studies Successfully Held

 On April 18, 2026, the academic symposium on “the Construction of New Liberal Arts and Art Hermeneutics Studies” was held at the School of Arts, Nanjing University. The event was jointly organized by the School of Arts of Nanjing University and the Art Philosophy Committee of the Chinese Society for Aesthetics. More than 30 scholars from major universities across China attended this grand academic event.

The symposium focused on five main topics:

  1. The Concept of “New Liberal Arts” and the Traditional Chinese “Grand Liberal Arts View”

  2. Methods of Hermeneutics in Relation to Linguistics, Philology, Semiotics, and Iconology

  3. A Comparative Study of Literary Hermeneutics and Art Hermeneutics

  4. Literary and Art Hermeneutics and the Construction of the Independent Knowledge System of Chinese Philosophy and Social Sciences

  5. Research on Art Hermeneutics in the Context of Intermedia and Artificial Intelligence Transformation
